Back in the real world

After a few days of hiding behind theoretic speeches and practical seminars I have returned to the real world. From monday till wednsday, I attended the local software development/engineering conference named JAOO. During the monday evening event the name changed to GOTO (which is considered harmfull). I totally agree with the name change, as Kresten motivated it by the fact that many people avoid attending in the belief that the topics will only be on “Java And Object Oriented programming”.

I have earlier published a schedule of what I attended to see - and I have pretty much followed it.

The high lights of my endeavour was the talks of Tim Bray (this guy could sell sand in Sahara), Keith Braithwaite (little round and humourus guy talking about todays “inventions” are actually just “innovation” on old techniques) and Franck Buschmann (talking about the requirements of being an architect at Siemens). They were all awesome (except that Keith went 25 minutes over time in a 45 minutes session).

Accidentally, I went past a camera from Ã…rhus Stiftstidende and I am now stamped as “one of the worlds brightest minds” (which I agree with). Read the article on stiften.dk for photo etc. (in Danish)
